Woo hoo… this week played out NOTHING like I planned! 🙂
The Review:
- Monday: Early morning trail run with Jade The Boxer, X-Stretch in P90x with my hubby
- Tuesday: NTC app & yoga
- Wednesday: 1 mile run with Jade The Boxer before my foot hurt too bad to continue
- Thursday: Rest Day
- Friday: Rest day
- Saturday: Sitting around while Team Challenge did 8 miles
- Sunday: Rest Day
So…. That’s how the week played out. You end up with some stress fractures in the foot and then suddenly everything takes a different turn. But I do need to figure out something to do even though I can’t run. Or maybe I’ll watch Netflix and Hulu all the time.

Initially I was thinking my 4th of July plans would involve getting up early and running Jade in the desert for an hour or so. Then I would bug her all day so she doesn’t sleep much, maybe even take her up the mountain. Then hopefully, by the time evening rolls around and people start blasting fireworks, she’s exhausted and not too scared. Well, that’s not going to happen now. Guess what sweet pup, you’re probably going to be scared!
The next week is obviously not very fleshed out. I have a follow-up with my podiatrist on Thursday morning. I was supposed to have a bone scan on Wednesday but due to insurance difficulties, that’s not happening. (One of the bad sides of telecommuting.) I would love to do yoga, but I’m not sure I can or am supposed to do downward facing dog or asanas that might put pressure on that foot. I’m still learning what I can and can’t do.
The Preview:
- Monday: attempt to do X-Stretch in P90x with my hubby
- Tuesday: NTC app
- Wednesday: Mat Pilates from YogaDownload (not sure what this entails, but I’ll check it out)
- Thursday: Something
- Friday: Something
- Saturday: Something
- Sunday: Something
It is what it is…
Seems like you need a hobby for sedentary days. Maybe suduko, crosswords, knitting….yeah, doesn’t sound too interesting. Maybe back to bread baking and giving it to your neighbors. They would like that, I’m sure:)
I don’t know how to knit or crochet! But yeah, I probably do need to find a sedentary hobby. I would love to bake bread, but we don’t turn on the oven much in the summer… just don’t need to add that heat to the house! 🙂
I agree that it sounds like a hobby might do you some good. Maybe it’s time to pick up some sort of crafty creative activity? I can’t imagine that watching netflix and hulu is going to keep you all that happy…
Sage Rountree has a restorative yoga practice on yogavibes that involves no standing whatsoever (I think the most you do is sit up, if that) which you could try: http://www.yogavibes.com/store/athletic-recovery/product/sage-rountrees-yoga-for-athletes-series-postgame-recovery-3-carrboro-yoga-company-chapel-hill-north-carolina/
Yeah, netflix and hulu are starting to get old already!
Thanks for the tip on the Sage Rountree practice, that sounds great!
Maybe you should write a book. 🙂
How’s X-stretch for you? I still love that one and use it before big races. 🙂
I’ve been contemplating writing a book since I was about 8 years old! One of these days I should just attempt it. My perfectionism has held me back, I was sure that I couldn’t do it unless I did it perfectly. But I heard about the book “No Plot, No Problem” and how it encourages you to just start writing. I guess nobody has to actually see it if it doesn’t turn out, right?!
I like x-stretch a lot! The downward dogs are a little challenging with my hurt foot, but it’s got some great stretches, especially ones that seem amazing on my wrists and forearms. Computer geekery takes a toll on the body too!
