Team Challenge 2010 Napa Group Run #15

Team Challenge
This week we were supposed to cover 11 miles… runners and walkers. But we made a last minute decision before the run to shorten it to 9 miles. The race is just in a couple weeks and pushing it to 11 isn’t going to make a difference in their training at this point. Plus we had a smaller group due to the holiday weekend. It just made sense.

And even with the reduced mileage, we had people bail early. Other people where slogging along at paces much slower than they usually maintain. I think the whole team just felt tired this week. They should enjoy the taper now!

I did run the route with the team, my first run since last Saturday’s run. Overall I felt good. Some of the more raw spots on my face really stung from sweat running into them and I was a little tired. I have found that I need A LOT of sleep this week. Guess that is just proof of how important sleep is when it comes to recovery and healing.

I am coaching a group of runners for the organization Team Challenge. They are fundraising for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America while training to run the Napa to Sonoma half marathon in July.

  1. Oh man… I hope that you’re taking it easy and feeling a lot better! We did not have a TC run due to the holiday, but we’re meeting up next week for a Boston Reunion and sendoff for the Napa team!
