I received a few vials of Oral I.V. a while back to try out and share my thoughts with you.
Cool, what’s Oral I.V.?
ORAL I.V. is a revolutionary hydration aid product based on a proprietary blend of electrolytes, minerals and purified water.
So, it’s an electrolyte drink?
Well, no. It’s not meant to replace your electrolyte source (drink, pills, salt, etc.) It’s not an energy drink nor is it a substitute for water.
Okay… so what is it?
It is a hydration aid. Oral I.V. does not contain any sugars, caffeine or stimulants, additives, preservatives or artificial ingredients. It can be consumed directly or added to water.
Cool… but what is it?
It aids in the user’s existing hydration routine. It can be consumed on its own or mixed into a drink. The recommendation is one vial for every 4-6 hours of strenuous activity and it can also be used in a recovery program.
Fine. But WHAT is it?
Oral I.V. can be used in any situation where the potential for dehydration exists. From everyday life to endurance sports to activities in extreme conditions to high-performance jobs. It’s lightweight, portable and doesn’t contain any sugars or stimulants.
Uh huh… what is it?
Oral I.V. can boost performance, increase endurance, improve focus and aid recovery.
But I still don’t know what it is!
Alright… neither do I! It’s a proprietary blend of crystalloid elctrolytes, which means they can put that on the label and not have to include full ingredient information. So it’s a little bit of a mystery as to what you’re putting into your body. They swear it is safe for everyone though, even pregnant women and children.
And really, with the way foods are manufactured these days, isn’t it kind of a mystery of what you’re consuming most of the time anyway?
All I know is that it doesn’t really taste like much. I got really sick during a run (runner’s trots and queasy) and popped a vial of this when I got home and it helped settle my digestive system. I don’t know if it improved hydration, because I don’t have a way of measuring that. Was it a placebo effect? I don’t know. I haven’t tested it during a bout of mid-run sickies, because how do you plan for that? Just cross your fingers and hope for the opportunity? No thanks…
A pack of 4 vials retails for $11.99. So it’s not cheap… if you were popping this every run, that could get pricey! But I guess it all depends on your training goals, financial situation and physical needs.
Interesting, sound like an electrolyte replacement/supplement sort of. Maybe it is just clear pedialyte.
It’s an electrolyte replacement, they specifically state that. It’s probably an ounce of fluid and you can drink it on your own or add it to your water bottle. A “supplement” is probably a good word.
I was wondering if you were familiar with the following analysis of and research about this product:

I’ll buy it… it’s a weird product that I definitely had no idea exactly what it was!
