Bluetooth Speaker While Running

Recently I received a portable bluetooth speaker from Nyne, the NYNE NB-200 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker with Bicycle Clips to be precise. It’s small (5.7″ w x 3.4″ d x 2.9″ h) so you can take it anywhere: “in your bag, on your bike or poolside.” Well, I don’t have a pool, I don’t have a bike and I don’t see the point in taking it in my (diaper) bag. But I do have a running stroller… so I thought I could take it along with me that way. Alex and I could both listen to some tunes. Although, she’s way into “I’ve been working on the Railroad” and only when I’m singing it, not any other source (I tried YouTube clips, no dice) and I’m not making an mp3 of my bad singing voice to listen to on the run. So… Imagine Dragons FTW. (Don’t worry, she likes them too!)

I unboxed it and it comes with the charging cable, clips to attach to handlebars, the speaker, instruction book and a little velvet-ish bag to keep it all in. I charged it up (it took a few hours), played with the clips a few times to figure out how they worked and took the whole kit-and-caboodle* outside to attach it to the BOB.

Well… the clips didn’t fit around the BOB’s handlebars. 😦 Bummer…

So with that idea thwarted, I’ve used the speaker back and forth between my kitchen and my office. Setup/pairing is super simple and the sound is great. MUCH better than trying to listen to a podcast in the kitchen through the phone’s speaker. And while it also acts as a speakerphone, I have yet to use it that way! I get more emails/texts on my phone than actual voice conversations. (My iPhone is more of a smartdevice than a smartphone.)

I have the opportunity to give readers in the continental US a chance to win their own speaker! If you’ve got a bike, you can try mounting it on there and let me know how it goes! Or you can take it in your bag! Or by the pool! Your options are limitless! Although, that makes it seem like just 3 options. And you probably are limited in that you couldn’t take it scuba diving or something like that. And it would be weird if you took it out to dinner. #justsaying (oh yeah, there’s a hashtag in the midst of the blog post!)

And if you don’t win, I’ll pull the empty box away from my baby and send it to you. You can see if it brings you as much joy as it has given her.

*kit and caboodle… what a weird saying.

  1. My hubby would use it for his ipod- and while getting ready (shower and deciding what to wear) – Yup, he likes doing what I did in my teenage years lol! I would take it on my daily stroll to the park with my babe in stroller, and when its warm again, to the beach!

  2. I would use it for cookouts on the deck, gardening, bathtime, baking in the kitchen and for flash mobbing *just kidding I can’t dance or have any sense of rhythm*

  3. At work! I work in a kitchen and our speaker broke so this would be just the thing to give my staff their groove back hahaha

  4. I’ve actually been looking for a small bluetooth speaker that I could use in the bathroom because I love to listen to audiobooks in the morning when I’m getting dressed and made up. This sounds like it would be perfect.

  5. I have a back room where you cannot hear anything from the rest of the place since it’s near a freeway! I’d love to actually hear music in that room and it would mask the traffic sounds too. Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. I have twins and a double stroller. I would attach it to the stroller when I take them on walks !! I woud LOVE it!! thanks!!
