Well, I’ve been running for about a month now post-injury. The progression was:
- Foot felt slightly sore after a run for a week.
- Foot felt slightly tight after a run for a couple weeks.
- Foot felt normal after a run.
It’s awesome to have it back to feeling normal. Now I just need to get my endurance back. The longest I’ve run is 4 miles. I’ve covered longer distances with Team Challenge, but most of those end up as a mix of running and walking and standing while giving high fives. Not the same!
And I’m slow… much slower than I used to be. But right now, I really don’t care about that facet. I am just thrilled that I can run again. It just feels right.
The past couple months have been busy, busy, busy… The end of August and September are always busy times with my job. Then you throw in the recruitment period for Team Challenge and the start of the fall season, that’s extra stuff on the agenda. And there is the other big thing that has been taking up a lot of time…
We bought a new house!
We just closed on it a couple weeks ago. Now that we’ve closed, I’m heading straight over to the new house after I finish working so I can paint and clean and repair things. We’re hoping to move in a week and a half or so.
I’m super excited about the new house. I’m eager to run around new areas. I’m happy we’re moving in October as opposed to moving in July like we did when we moved here. (Ugh… it was 117 that day, miserable!)
And speaking of weather… Autumn seems to have arrived here in Vegas this week. I think we saw the last of the 90’s for a while this past weekend. It feels so nice to be able to open windows in the evenings and have the daytime temps cooling off. (Really cooling off right now, high’s in the 60’s! It will be back to the 80’s by the weekend though.) With the daylight hours getting shorter, being able to take a run during the day is a real life saver… otherwise I would spend the whole day inside and only venture outside in the dark.
The winner of the Power Pillowcase is…. Lindsay!
Congrats on both the running and the new house! Hope the rest of October is just as fabulous!

A new house? How exciting! I am equally glad to hear that you are still taking it easy with your foot. Today was the first day I really felt fall in the air. Hope you share more about the new place. xo
