I was so excited for this morning to arrive… I woke up at 3 AM and immediately rolled to look at the clock, thinking “Do I get to run now?” But when I saw what time it was, I decided I should try to fall asleep again. I probably wouldn’t function well on just 4 hours of sleep.
But when 5 AM rolled around, I popped out of bed eagerly. Well, not too eagerly… I didn’t want to bother my still slumbering husband too much!
If I had been really planning in advance, I would have run a 5K… or a 50K. Although a 5K is too short and a 50K is too far… but both of those amounts in miles state my age as of today.
In case you haven’t guessed… it’s my birthday. Yes, I run other days of the week… but I was even more excited to get up and run today. Waking up and spending the first part of the morning doing something all for me just felt like the perfect way to start the birthday.
I ran along some little trails that are outside some of the neighborhoods near me. I wish every neighborhood was built that way: road, sidewalk, dirt trail then brick wall.
6 miles accomplished before I had to shower and start working, the perfect start to the day.
And the pefect start to a “new year” in my life.
