Road ID

For Christmas I ordered Road ID gift cards for a couple of my friends. This way everyone in my running circle had Road ID. Well, everyone except me!

If you are not familiar with the Road ID, here is the basic gist from their web site:

If you are a runner, cyclist, triathlete or just a person who doesn’t sit on the couch all day, Road ID is for you. This awesome piece of gear not only looks good but it could save your life. In the event of an accident, if you can’t speak for yourself, your Road ID will. Available in 5 different styles. It’s not just a piece of gear – it’s peace of mind.

The 5 styles are a wrist ID, an ankle ID, a shoe ID, a shoe pouch ID and the FIXX ID (similar to dog tags).

After ordering my friends ID gifts I was presented with a code for $1 off a future order. So after getting teased and chastised by my pals for not ordering one for myself, I finally took the plunge. I ordered the pink wrist interactive Road ID. I liked the interactive option because I can store an assortment of emergency info in my profile in the MyRoadID.com Emergency Response System. The Road ID has a phone number and URL so if there was an accident, the first responder could get information to help me. And since it’s online, I can change it if anything changes.

I haven’t received my Road ID yet, but as soon as I do I will let all of you know. But in the meantime, if you have been thinking of ordering one for yourself, they did give me another code to use for a discount. So feel free to use this code. It is good for 20 uses in the next 30 days.

  1. I have a runner id tag on my shoe. I like it there because I never forget it when its attached to my shoe. You’ll have to let me know how you like the wrist version. I bought mine before they had the online thing though. Maybe someday I’ll lose it and get another!

  2. Joe: That’s funny that you posted something on this at the same time as me. Guess it just goes to show how important something like this can be!

Alissa: Not to sound morbid… but I’ve always heard that if someone is hit by a car their shoes come off. So with that in mind, I debated between the ankle or the wrist one and finally just settled on the wrist one. I figure if I keep it with my Garmin, I should remember to put it on!

  3. My husband got me one for Christmas, and I have to say, I feel a lot safer wearing it. He even got the name of my blog onto it!

And honestly once it’s on, I don’t even feel it. It’s really lightweight. And PINK – I LOVE IT!

  4. ~moe~: Do it! Order your Road ID and use the coupon code. Might as well do it now when you get a little discount! 🙂 (No, I don’t get anything back, I’m just sharing the love…)

tgorourke: You would love the pink! 😉 I’ve been thinking maybe I should try a pink Camelbak like you wear! But I’m glad to hear your positive look on the ID. Thanks for sharing!
