A Running Princess

I laced up the running shoes for today’s run, and as I took a couple steps I thought to myself, “Hmm… something feels wrong.” But I still walked out the door.

I usually walk to the entrance of my neighborhood to warm-up a little and begin my run from that point. As I was walking, I thought to myself, “Hmm… something still feels wrong. I think there is a rock in my shoe.”

Just before I got to the “official starting line”, I thought to myself, “Yep… something is definitely wrong. I think I have a boulder in my shoe.” Thus I sat down on the side of the road and took off my shoes to investigate.

Upon initial inspection, I couldn’t find anything. But I took out the factory insole and checked under that. Sure enough, I found my “boulder”.

The "Pea" in my Running Shoe

Does the story of “The Princess and the Pea” come to anyone else’s mind?

  1. This totally happened to me on Sunday! I took off my shoe, shook it out and thought I had lost my boulder. By mile 13 or so, it was back and rolling around in my shoe. By then I couldn’t stop or I’d totally screw up my pace and I was annoyed. So I kept shifting it from side to side. Ugh.

  2. Wow, what is that little speck?! ha ha ha.

good thing you stopped to check it out before you started, and thanks so much for the shout-out last week. I’m just getting caught up on everyone’s blogs now.
