On Sunday I rested, but only because I felt like that’s what I’m “supposed to do”. Which is true, rest days are good for you. However… Walking every morning not only helps me toward me goal (desperate need) to improve my fitness but it also gives me something to do. Because after Alex’s 6 AM feeding, she’s awake and I’m not sure what else to do! If I try to lay her back down then she cries. So I just load her into the stroller and off we go! When it comes time to work again, I got permission to start working at 8 AM instead of 7 like I used to… I’d like to still get out for mileage in the mornings, but then I have to shower and eat too. It’s kind of amazing how time seems to vanish with a baby!
I got a facial on Tuesday, it was nice to slip out for a moment to do something nice for myself!
For this week I am going to shoot for some 3 mile walks. I’ve been wearing my Altra Intuition for most of the walks. Zero-drop shoes just feel better to me now.
I have to go to the dentist today, which I strongly considered canceling until my dad came to town… so I’m going to have him babysit while I take care of that. I think I need a new dentist. I like my dentist a lot and I like his staff a lot, but they used to be conveniently located near me and then he took a position with UNLV’s dental school and moved his practice further away. It’s a pain to plan a 20-30 minute drive into the appointment too, and now that I have Alex in my life that’s just more adjusting to find childcare and/or altering her feeding schedule.
I have my 6-week postpartum checkup on Friday, I’m anticipating getting clearance to run at that. Of course, I don’t think I’ll go out and run immediately after it… I’ll probably integrate running the following week!
