Self-Mockery: Catch the Gobbler Photos

Race photos of me are always TERRIBLE. Most of the time I’m barely visible, a small portion of my leg, hat, elbow amongst everyone around me. Other times I just look weird. So, as photos become available for various races, I’m going to post the goofy ones… just so everyone can have a chuckle at my expense! (photos link to larger version)

A typical photo, the white hat in the crowd is me.

This one appears that Im looking for new friends.

Here I look like I am about 12-years-old.

Now I look like I am scared I will fall down.

Now I have a double-chin, look like I am either crying or about to die.

Okay, this one is not that bad...

I am usually pretty oblivious to the cameras. Apparently I need to start paying more attention so I can “strike a pose” when the camera is around. Maybe then I wouldn’t look as goofy. Or at least I would look intentionally goofy!

The camera doesn’t love me either. My friend Martha looks like a movie star for the entire 26.2 miles. She looks much better at the finish line than I did at the start! When I see photos of her, I always think I should dress better and fix my hair, but that is the opposite of why I run.

Database Diva: My friend Melinda is the same way, she looks great the whole time. It’s not fair! ;-)

Me too! I think very few people look attractive when they run. Attractive = long legged, gazelle-like runners. Unattractive = short, stocky runners who get very sweaty and out of breath (me).

I’m with BethT on this one. I’m totally the short, stocky runner who is sweaty and out of breath. But the sad thing is I really want these photos! I want to prove to people that I actually did run whatever race I’ve ran!

    Very cute.
I look terrible in mine and I wore braces for two years and just got them off so I’d like to delete all of those!

Those are so cute! They’re not as bad as you think. I have a lot of bad ones too. Actually you post almost makes me want to do a little self mockery of my one. I think most of my race photos are bad too. So don’t worry, you’re normal. :-)

Jill…you are so silly! Did you not see how many photos of me were crazy? you can’t help being short…sorry, but I say almost always you look like a kick butt runner!

oh way too funny. So glad to see someone else looks like me with the hat on, no makeup, etc. I look like I’m 12 also, so you are not alone.

Ever notice in the race photos bill takes, I’m always waving? I tell myself if I’m not doing that, I look like I am about to die. And, no lie, in all the pics from the maine marathon, I look like I’m walking, not even running, even when I was!!

Thanks for these pics, they are awesome.
