Pumped Up Kicks

I think I’ve made it pretty clear on here that I really like my Saucony Kinvara. Well, they have about reached the end of their lifecycle.

I replaced them with a pair of Saucony Mirage, which are another pair in Saucony’s minimal line-up but with a little more stability. However, after running a 7-miler in them I came to the conclusion that I didn’t like running in them. The tongue keeps sliding to the outsides and that’s annoying. It’s too bad, because I REALLY REALLY like the appearance of these shoes!

So I went back to the Kinvara… upgrading to the latest model, the Saucony Kinvara 2 this time.

And I love them!

Recently a gal said to me, “You’re wearing Saucony shoes? I thought only guys wore those!”

Nope. At least not this guy gal! I’m becoming a Saucony gal, at least in terms of shoes.

I loved my Kinvaras enough to continue into the next model release.
My trail shoes are the Saucony Peregrine, the trail version of the Kinvara.
I have the minimal Hattori that I really like, they’re pretty fun on a track too!

I only wish Saucony had size 8 in their last chance sale, they have orange and pink Kinvara 1 on super sale, just $55!  And while they don’t have the orange in the Kinvara 2, they do have pink as well as groovy purple and lime green versions!

Legalese: The Saucony 1 were provided to me for review a long time ago, as were the Peregrine and Hattori. I bought the Mirage and the Kinvara 2 with my own monies.

  1. I love my kinvaras, and just bought my third pair. Was really excited to get my first pair of hatori, but disappointed to find they run a bit small on me. Will definitely have to try the trail version of kinvara…didn’t know saucony offered one!

    • Love love love the Peregrine! I used to think that perhaps trail running wasn’t for me. But nope, it was just painful in my old trail shoes. I love running trails!

  2. I love the colors of the Mirage. Kinvaras seem to come in fun colors too though.

I have only worn one style of Saucony – the Omni Pro Grid 9. I really didn’t like them though, they were really heavy and I think had too much support. They were recommended to me after a gait analysis. I ended up trying the 2nd recommended style, the Asics 2150, which I love and is so much lighter. I’d like to try an even lighter shoe but wonder how my foot would do in a neutral shoe when I’ve got some mild pronation. I guess if the Asics 21xx line is working for me I shouldn’t fix what’s not broken?

    • If it’s not broken and you’re comfortable with what you’ve got, then yeah… don’t change! I just wanted something with a more minimal profile, so far I’ve been extremely happy with that change!

  3. I just bought my first pair of Saucony! I am a Brooks girl and I love them- but their latest pair just didnt do it for me! I still don’t know which to wear for the marathon though…

    • If you’ve been running in your Saucony the past 5 weeks, you’ve probably done your longest training distances in them too, right? I’d probably stick with that! 🙂
