Running Randomness

Shoes

The other day Lisa posted about her cute new shoes she bought from Running Warehouse. I even commented on how cute they are.

Um… I had those same shoes in my closet.

I’m a dork… I went to Fleet Feet to get a new pair of shoes, I told them I just wanted the same kind I had before, they asked if I wanted the same blue color I had before or if I wanted the pink ones, and I chose pink. They handed me the box, I took it home and hadn’t opened it yet because of the Great Fainting of 2010.

So needless to say, it was a pleasant surprise when I opened the box to run on Tuesday and discovered I had the same pair I had admired so recently!

Running Warehouse

Speaking of Running Warehouse, it’s a great company for online purchases of running gear. And I have a discount link on the sidebar of my site if any of you are interested in getting a discount on purchases through them!

I don’t get any kickbacks from it… I just wanted to share that discount and good-will to you guys because I’ve always been impressed with the service of that company. Free two-day shipping, free returns, nice selection… check them out if you’re in the market for something new!

(But if you don’t know what kind of shoes you need, get properly fit by a running store and then BUY YOUR SHOES from the store… don’t make them go through the whole fit process and then walk away to purchase online, it’s just not right.)

Barefoot Alternative

I always like to share the latest things from the barefoot/minimalism world that I find and this latest one is interesting.

In the book Born to Run, readers learn of the simple sandal-like shoes the Tarahumara run in: huaraches. Now you can get your own pair!

The website I found gives you two options: order a custom-made pair or order a kit to make your own. The custom-made option costs $49.95 and the kits are $19.95 for adults and $12.95 for kids (or if you have particularly large feet the kit to make your own are $24.95). You can even choose the color you want for the ties.

Truthfully, I’m a little intrigued and wouldn’t mind trying them!
