Peanut butter is one of those go-to food items for runners. How many articles have you read that recommend you eat the proverbial “Elvis bagel” before a race? (PB & Banana bagel) Countless, right?
For me, the whole field of nut butters is a handy staple. I always have multiple jars of natural nut butters in my house. Almond butter, cashew butter, sunflower seed butter… they’re just a necessity.
Recently I found Naturally Nutty nut butters at a Great Harvest bread store in Utah. I had seen mention of them on other blogs, but hadn’t found them in regular grocery stores near me. When I saw them I had to buy them, there was no thinking about it… it was a NEED.
And holy cow… these things are so good! They have a ton of flavors, but I only bought two. Now I need to find more! Wow!
The first one I had was a Vanilla Almond Butter. The texture of this is a little grittier than some almond butters, but the taste is incredible. In addition to the almonds and vanilla powder, it contains hemp and flax seeds for an additional nutritional boost.
The next one was so addictive and awesome; the Pepita Sun Seed Butter. It contains Organic Pepita Seeds, Organic Flax Seeds, Organic Sunflower Seeds, Organic Hemp Seeds, Organic Vanilla Powder, Organic Allspice, Organic Cinnamon, Sea Salt. The flavor of this is practically intoxicating, it’s so good and this was one of the first nut butters that I’ve ever been tempted to eat by the spoonful. I dream about this stuff… especially since it’s all gone!
I just had to share with everyone, these things are amazing. I’m on the hunt for additional flavors… like White Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter, Butter Toffee Peanut Butter, White Chocolate Cherry Almond Butter. They all sound so good!
