Four-Eyed Runner

I was ordered to go another 7 days without my contacts, which meant I have had to run in my glasses. It was that or skip the runs and LIKE THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN! đŸ˜‰ My running was really scaled back the past couple weeks and I craved some more miles.

Truthfully, I’ve done a pretty good job of running in my glasses. I ran 5 miles at Fleet Feet on Tuesday night, I ran 6 miles on Thursday morning and I did 10.75 miles on Saturday. Apparently it takes about 7 miles to start to forget (or slightly forget) that I’m wearing glasses. (Monday morning I ran in my contacts, before going to the eye doctor later in the day and receiving my abstinence order.)

I wear sunglasses when I run quite often and it doesn’t bother me. But wearing my regular glasses is hard. Partly because I feel like a major doofus in them. But also because they’re not made for sports, so they feel like they collect sweat in weird ways and they slip on my nose.

I really hope this “no contact lens” ruling is just temporary. I have no idea how people who wear glasses all the time can run in them. You have my respect!

  1. I cannot run in my eyeglasses either!! However, no issue with sunglasses. It must be what you said…not made for running!

  2. I’ve never run in my glasses…well, that’s not entirely accurate. I’ve run in them on my treadmill a couple of times because I’ve forgotten to take them off, but usually after a few minutes I remember because they’re slipping down my nose and completely bugging me…and then I run blind as a bat, but I’m on a treadmill so it doesn’t really matter. I think you’re right, they’re not made for sports.

  3. I’ve never run in my glasses thankfully. But in case this is prolonged–they do make glasses that are meant more for sports–not saying they will be fashionable pieces though! Hope they give you the all clear to go back to contacts soon.

  4. i wore my glasses on a run monday… totally not cool. mine aren’t made for running either – so no nifty rubber nose pads to keep it from falling off my face. every other step i was pushing them back up my nose like a dork. i feel for you. only a few more days hopefully though!

  5. When allergy season hit, I find myself forgoing my contacts often and wearing my glasses. On these days, run without my glasses or contacts. Who needs to see things clearly? JK, luckily my vision isn’t too bad.

  6. I soooo wish I could skip any kind of vision correction, but I’d probably have some big problems without glasses or contacts… I can’t even see my alarm clock without vision correction!

I’m still stuck in the glasses right now, but hopefully that will be different by this weekend!

  7. Lis used to wear a strap around the back of her head, I think, when she ran with me last summer. But I know what you mean, I wear glasses too, and there’s no way I could run with those things bumping up and down the whole way.
