Hoping for Better

I ran 4 miles this morning in my super old Brooks Adrenaline 8’s. Ahh… those were nice.

This afternoon I went to my local Fleet Feet store and swapped out the reject New Balance 769’s for a pair of Brooks Adrenaline 9’s. They’re pretty (love the newer blue color!) and they felt pretty comfy when I put them on. We’ll see how they treat me on a run!

I’ve been so busy lately, some of my days are booked solid from 5:30 AM until 8:30 PM and it gets a little hard to create a regular running schedule. I’m trying and will be back on track someday.

For now, I’m just enjoying the running when I can get it in, trying not to stress too much over times/pace and hoping to not lose too much of my fitness level by dropping my mileage so much.

Life… sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the days.

  1. Sometimes I think it’s nice not to worry about running schedules, paces, etc. Not being able to run as often makes you wish you could run more, which puts you in a good place once you find the time again. Good luck!

  2. My new(ish) Brooks were totaled yesterday at Six Tunnels (might have been nice to wear my trail shoes… GAH!) Kendall loves her new Kayanos… they look great, but as much as I wanted Kayanos to work for me last fall, they didn’t. I’m tempted to try the new design. But then again, I probably just need to stick with trusty Adrenalines. Let me know how they work for you!

    (What is with you and I, trying so hard to find different shoes when Adrenalines work so well for us? I think the problem is that they aren’t very sexy looking 😉 )

    After yesterday, I really want to run for general fitness. Consuming all the sports drink and gels to get through the long run made me feel so yucky at the end of the day. I really don’t like it! It will be nice to run for the sake of running and staying in shape, and not for a long race.

    • LVGurl: I have no clue what our malfunction is, “Adrenalines work… so let’s try something new!” We’re nuts.

      Kendall and I had a total whine-fest last Tuesday in our new shoes. I’m glad she is loving the Kayanos.

  3. i hope your days have slowed down a little so you can relax (or maybe even sneak a run in!) 🙂 i feel you on the struggle to not beat yourself up too much. hope you are being nice to yourself.

    • Unfortunately, I don’t see my schedule letting up until May! But I’ll just keep slipping out to run whenever I can fit it in! It’s made the ones I’m getting really enjoyable!

  4. I love how the Adrenalines are “pretty” because I’ve got the Cascadias to run on trails, and well, they’re UGLY. Bright neon green, need I say more?! WTH can you wear with that?!
