The sky was dark, the air was cool(er), the crickets were chirping and the neighborhood sprinklers were running. It was a great morning to get out for a run. And once again, I tried to start out slower to focus on form and ended up really flying. It’s a great feeling when you have your legs moving in a nice rhythm and you realize, “Hey, I’m going fast!”. (At least, fast for me… some of you out there go REALLY fast. Maybe someday…)
I’ve mentioned it before, but my weekday runs are all based on time. That’s what our TNT schedule dictates. Today was my last 35 minute Thursday run, next week we jump up to 40 minutes. The route today was one that I’ve done quite a bit lately, it usually puts me right at my house when the 35 minutes are up. But this morning, in order to extend to the full 35 minutes I had to run 3 cul-de-sacs past mine. Then I just ambled back home for a cool down before beginning my post-run yoga stretching.
My friends and I had that same thing happen on our icky-hot Tuesday night run this week, the point where we usually complete our time is right at the beginning (or ending) of our trail loop. But this week we still had another 4 minutes to go so we kept running beyond that point for a couple minutes and then did a double-back. It’s an amazing feeling to realize that you must be going faster when the same runs are completed in a quicker time. Love it!
Hundred Push-up Challenge:
Week 5, Day 2: 15, 15, 14, 14, 12, 12, 10, 10, 30 = 132
I forgot to do my push-ups yesterday, so I am a day off. But this week’s schedule is HARD, it’s feeling like a huge jump in difficulty.
