Oh, What a Beautiful Morning!

Got up at 4:30 this morning to do my running. I was out the door before the sun was even up, but it was a beautiful day. There was a very slight breeze out and the temperature was 77°. Whew, I beat the 80’s!

The run was just supposed to be 35 minutes, according to my TNT schedule. (Weekdays are based upon minutes and weekends are based on mileage.) So I decided that instead of knowing EXACTLY what I would do, I would just run the 35 minutes specified on my training schedule. I knew I had a 3 mile route that took me outside my neighborhood a little and at the conclusion of that I could just run around my neighborhood for the remaining time. (I live in a gated community and it is a one mile loop inside.)

The run felt easy, relaxed – I was just enjoying the cooler temps (for here at least) and the music on my iPod and when my watch informed me the time was up, I was a little disappointed that the 35 minutes was over. I guess it really was an easy and relaxed run because I went 3.6 miles today. I know I could probably go further in that time, but I’m not pushing right now. I just want to keep building my endurance.

However, the 4:30 wake time has been catching up with me… around 2:00 PM today I felt like I wanted to crawl under my desk and take a nap. I’ve gotta figure out how to get up to beat the heat, run, stretch, eat, shower and be ready for work by 7:00, while still catching enough zzz’s and spending time with my husband. Somehow I feel guilty when I head up to bed early in the evening, but it’s not like we’re doing anything fun anyway. It’s usually just the two of us with our laptops and watching the TV tuned to whatever crap program he’s settled on for the night.

(Unless it’s Monday nights, then my choice of crap programming is ‘American Gladiators’. I never claimed we were ultra-classy!)

Hundred Push-up Challenge:
Week 3, Day 1 – 15, 12, 12, 10, 19 = 68
(Yep, I’m repeating week 3. I couldn’t quite squeak out all the necessary reps the last day, so I’m doing it again to build more strength.)

  1. What’s up with the old woman on American Gladiators tonight? Did they really think she would win?

Anyway, good job on the run. I got up at 5 and it was way to hot…i think i need to start getting up at 4:30, but you are right…mid-day you are dead tired…

  2. Chris: I just felt bad for that lady, I think they put her on there to slightly humiliate her. I don’t think it was to show the power someone from her generation could have (sadly).
