New Route Success

This morning’s run was good, the new route was a success. Not only were there no evil dogs chasing after me, but there was less traffic so I felt more free to run on the asphalt of the road as opposed to the hard concrete of the sidewalks. (Better on the knees!) I enjoyed it so much, I think I’ll do it again tomorrow morning. But just to switch it up I may add on an extra little off-shoot to it that will up the total mileage from 3.66 to 4.49 and I’ll do the run in reverse. (No, I’m not going to run backwards, I’ll just go the opposite way that I did it this morning.) It’s interesting the new perspective you get on the world when you just take it on from a different direction.

I also found this website: One Hundred Pushups

Basically it’s a challenge to build you from wherever you are in your push-up strength right now (even if you can only do one push-up) to being able to do 100 push-ups in 6 weeks. So I’m taking on that challenge as a supplement to my marathon training. I figure added strength will just help my performance. I’m already doing daily ab work as part of my training too.

So I took the initial test and was able to do 10 push-ups in a row. These are regular push-ups, not the knees-to-the-floor girl style. I might have been able to squeeze out one more, but that wouldn’t have made a difference in the starting level for me.

Now I need to go send this web site to my husband; I’m going to challenge him to do this too. He’s in Oklahoma for the week again, but he can start this challenge in a hotel room!

  1. This is tremendous! Thanks for supporting the plan and taking the challenge.

Good luck in the quest to reach one hundred…

  2. Yeah, I can do ONE push-up, then I lay on the ground. It’s pretty pathetic.

I love MapMyRun! I like figuring out different runs, and moreso, calculating the random routes I take. It’s sure beats driving the perimeter in my car to figure out the mileage 😉

  3. I love MapMyRun too, I used it all last fall for my previous marathon. Although, sometimes I get a little too creative and start building these long and winding routes and then I realize I don’t remember all the turns that I’m “supposed” to take when I get out there! Duh!

Okay Marci, do the challenge. Let’s get that 1 push-up up to at least 10! 😉
