Check out this necklace:
It’s made by SportyGirl Jewelry. I just discovered this site because MissZippy is having a giveaway for one of these necklaces. I don’t earn any entries for posting this, I just felt like sharing this necklace in particular because it spoke so loudly to me…
To me it didn’t just apply to running (although, reading the book ‘Born to Run‘ makes the case that all of us were born to run!). To me the meaning went so much deeper…
To me, it meant I was BORN TO LIVE!
If you’ve been reading this site for a while, you know some of the challenges I’ve battled. I’m still battling. And there was a time where I wasn’t sure that I wanted to live anymore. I’m glad I’m to a point now where even bad days don’t make me feel that despondent anymore. There are still battles, but I think I’m on the uphill climb. (Why do uphills get such a bad rep in running yet they’re indicative of good forward progress in life?)
I admit, I am still a little afraid at times… but remembering this motto perhaps I can fake it ’til I make it.
So encouraging! You are so strong Jill!
Thank you!
I love that necklace! So meaningful for each of us in so many ways. You’re are an amazing woman, Jill, and many times when I’m out running I think of you. Blessings to you this year!
Blessings to you too… I’m touched that you would think of me!
This is a really heart-warming post 🙂 I’ve also had moments where I felt that despondent, and like you, I am happy to be able to look back now and realize that I no longer feel that bad, even when I’m not feeling at my best.
Also, I like uphill climbs in running. It’s the downhills that always make me nervous…they make me feel like I might lose control. It probably comes as no surprise that that would make me uncomfortable!
I like uphills too… and I think that’s something to keep in mind when I do get to thinking negatively about them… in every other situation being on the uphill side is a good thing!
I’m so glad you’re not in that dark place anymore as well!
I love the I am not afraid. It is a good reminder.
I have been catching up slowly but surely. I didn’t write it on my blog because I just cannot be sure, but I am going to try to work the Las Vegas 1/2 into my schedule next year. And if I can’t work in a race, we MUST figure out a way to meet!
AMEN to that!
