Another reason to keep exercising? It keeps your blood flowing, all the time!
Carrying extra weight can increase the odds that a person will develop recurring blood clots. The problem comes when blood stagnates and forms a clot. Clots can dislodge and travel to the lungs or the heart, causing even more severe problems.
Just dropping a small amount of weight can diminish the risk. Plus getting in some active time helps keep your heart pumping and strong. A strong heart moves your blood throughout the body more efficiently.
Remember, if you aren’t currently participating in any fitness endeavors, it is always smart to get checked out by a doctor to make sure you are healthy for the new activity!
Good point about the dr’s checkup. Particularly this time of year when many 40-somethings take up the New Year resolution of “getting in shape”. It’s a great endeavor, but use that motivation to get yourself a physical examination as well.
The way I look at it, the more I get my blood flowing, the better my moods. It is what gets me out of bed early in the morning!
