Well, my training this week hasn’t been that solid. I skipped my run on Monday for several reasons: I started working at about 6:00 AM that day, after which I went straight to my local Fleet Feet store to help them with some of their e-communications. Then I hung out at the store for a while, chatting with my pals. By the time I got home, I was very hungry so I ate dinner and by this time it was about 7:30 PM. So of course, food has to settle and I couldn’t go run in the dark, cold world at that point, right?
Last night I was going to run with my friends for our weekly Fun Run from the store, but my husband got home from his work travels early. He has been on the road for several weeks, only coming home for the weekends before leaving again. So we decided to go out for dinner. I felt guilty ditching my friends, but I also felt guilty at the idea of skipping out on my husband. It was one of those moments where I felt “damned if I do, damned if I don’t”.
I did try to slip in a quick run on my treadmill, but apparently the machine is possessed. As soon as you crank it above 6.0 mph it starts acting weird, changing inclines on it’s own (in sudden jerking motions, not smooth changes) and making weird grinding sounds. It scared me so I only did about two miles.
Well, today I definitely can’t be expected go out for a run in this, right?

Yeah, it’s been snowing in Las Vegas. It snowed on Monday, then that all melted away. And today it started again and it’s worse than the storm two days ago. I’m watching the news right now and they’re saying that the weather hasn’t been like this since 1979! I definitely do not have running apparel that is warm enough to go out in this, plus I’d be worried about slipping!
So, I’ll just keep doing my cross-training and hope to get in a run tomorrow.
Unbelievable isn’t it? My dad, who lives in Vegas, sent me photos…
You absolutely cannot run in that stuff! It’s dangerous!
wow, girl, you have as much snow as I do!!! Very, very weird…….
I think you made the right call on the dinner with the husband, by the way.
the weather has been crazy!!! It’s stopped running here for now so I’m dashing out with velcro for a run!!! Hope you get a run in soon….
I just saw Vegas on our evening news. Apparently they are diverting all the planes from your airport to ours because there are no snow plows in vegas to clear the runways! That is AMAZING! And so fun for you! Go make mini snowmen and take pictures for your christmas cards! We’ve been getting rain for the last two days and tonight its supposed to rain and get colder. I’m crossing my fingers that the miracle happens here too. They say snow levels down to 5000 feet. I’m at 2000 feet, hey it could happen!!!
It’s either been snowing, or down in the 20s here for almost a week. I hid in the house for the first couple of days. Then I went out and walked in the cold, crisp, 20 degree air. Tonight I went out and ran in the falling snow. It wasn’t too slippery. It was a lot of fun. I hope it snows again tomorrow.
that is SO cool! I kind of wish it would snow here. I am not sure if it ever has. I remember when I was in Vegas on business many years ago and it snowed. Nothing really stuck to the ground, but people were freaking out. The weirdest thing was driving down to Laughlin in a blizzard!
Don’t beat yourself up for missing a few runs. You aren’t going to lose your fitness level in a couple of days (at least that is what I always justify to myself…LOL) You need to keep a balance in your life and hanging out with your husband will do that.
I love all of you, my blogging friends. Thank you for making me feel validated in my choices! 🙂
