I took a swing by the expo for the Las Vegas Marathon/Half Marathon on my lunch break today, also known as “The Nissan Quality of Life Expo“. It’s always nice to get a chance to stop in and pick up your bib number, timing chip and goodie bag BEFORE the crowds really pick up. Plus I will be working in the Garmin/Fleet Feet booth at the expo tomorrow, so it was nice to familiarize myself with the grounds a little.
Spotted a few interesting products, although I don’t know that any of them will be sponsoring giveaways on the site. I did speak with Gracie from Gracie’s Gear for a moment and I would love to be able to work out several giveaways with them in the future. We have one giveaway coming up next week, so if you guys respond well, maybe that will become a reality. They’ve got a pretty great hoodie, which is a fairly recent product! Plus, they’re just really nice people!
I really wished I was better about keeping my race memorabilia, like bib numbers/space blankets/etc. when I found a company called Mile 22 Bags that will turn your race gear into a custom tote bag (or wallet). They can work with t-shirts, so maybe I’ll have to see what can be done with those.
Another company, Egg Whites International, was giving away samples of liquid egg whites in a drinkable form. I was kind of disgusted by this idea, enough so to go investigate. They filter the egg whites and manage to turn it into a liquid that actually has a consistency very similar to milk. They told me you could add it to your morning coffee, juice or add some flavored liquid creamer to make a tasty breakfast beverage. Of course, I had to try it myself. I had a shot of it with some cookies and cream flavoring added… it was REALLY GOOD! Kind of expensive though, around $100 for a 30 day supply.
I will make a pass through the expo again tomorrow, see if there are any other interesting things I missed and decide if I want to purchase anything. Honestly, I love the expos because I get to scope out all kinds of gear/fuel/etc. Right up my alley!
The Mile 22 bag is kind of cool. I have a folder full of old bibs in my filing cabinet. Most still have the safety pins in them. I always know where to find one when I need it! I agree that the egg white drink sounds awfully pricey. I guess you won’t have a give away for it š
Wishing you a “fabulous” time in Vegas this weekend!
I forgot, this race of yours is coming up, I feel a shout-out coming on!
