I couldn’t face a super early run today. I was just too tired after Saturday: getting up super early, going on an 8-mile run, standing in line for a couple hours to get an iPhone, being awake for nearly 20 hours straight, then only getting 5 hours of sleep after all that… I was beat most of the day on Sunday. I did take a nap for about an hour, but I was still plenty exhausted when bedtime rolled around.
So instead of getting up early, I slept in until 6:00. Whoa… that’s pushing the limits for me! (Especially since I have to start working at 7:00.) The plan was for a 35 minute run on the treadmill at lunch time.
Truthfully, I didn’t really want to do it when lunch time arrived. But I am far more committed to my training than I am to my own laziness, so I got into my running clothes and got running! And for about 5 minutes I kept thinking about how I didn’t want to do it… although I’m not sure what else I would have been doing. And after that first 5 minutes passed? The magical moment occurred when I just settled into the run and thoroughly enjoyed my time. I actually kept cranking up the speed as well and finished the run feeling good.
So the moral of the story… even if you think you don’t want to do the run, just get on there (unless you are debating it because you’re sick, then you should listen to your body!). I’ve always read that if you tell yourself you can quit after 5 minutes if you’re still not feeling it, odds are pretty high that you’ll actually want to finish. And I totally felt that and I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s run.

Good job for getting on the treadmill. I don’t blame you for not getting up after the marathon day you had!
Thanks Jenn for the validation! I love the running community and the support they provide!
