Smart girl taking it easy with the barefoot running distance. My coworker overdid it at first with the VFFs and then she paid for it with a lot of pain. I don't think you could run barefoot around here - right now it's too cold and when it's warm out, well they'd turn into bloody stumps with all the rocks and other crap on the ground. I wouldn't do it!

I hope the dizziness subsides soon.

Spot on... a trouble spot in one place may actually be caused by something else. It's something we hear in running literature (knee pain actually caused by hip problems, shin pain caused by foot problems, etc.) and I definitely think it's gotta hold true in the body overall for a wide range of medical issues.

I actually DO have a thyroid issue. I have been on Synthroid for years for hypothyroidism. And I suppose it is very possible for it to have made some changes, one way or the other. Guess I have to drag myself to the doc!

i agree 100% on the doctor-visit's. i used to think it was kind of hokey, but now i am much more open to holistic types of medicine. i don't like how most modern medicine is aimed at treating one sympton, one problem. our bodies are much more complicated than that - everything is connected so a trouble spot here may be caused by something going on over there...

anyway. sorry to hear you're still feeling the funk, but nice job getting in your feet-strengthening runs!

I have to wonder if you have a thyroid issue. A friend of mine had this develop shortly after having a baby ( I know you haven't just had a baby, but still...) and she had horribly brain fog. She would be driving along and wonder if she had the kids in the car with her, and have to turn around to look. She forgot where she was going sometimes, and had a lot of trouble concentrating. She was diagnosed as being severely hyper-thyroid. Anyway, something to look into. You need to get this checked out, Jill-girl.

Sorry about the fogginess! I hope you're able to find some relief. My primary used to be an osteopath and I loved her. Then she dropped my insurance and I couldn't afford to go anymore :-(

Good luck!

THe East/West statement is very true. I think for the most part the West are pill pushers (not always) while eastern medicine is much more holistic!

Thanks for the advice, I will keep that in mind as I finally bite the bullet and start pursuing some kind of medical advice! But I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my dislike of going to doctors.

I don't think I could quit the drug that is distance running. In fact, feeling foggy has made me crave that drug even more but I can't get that "fix" when I feel this off! But you're right, sometimes these moments do allow our bodies to absorb everything we've been working on for so long. Thanks for the reminder and the kind words!

I should get my thyroid re-checked. It's almost time for the annual check anyway. I'll do the complete bloodwork at that time, perhaps it will reveal something.
