Temporary Autumn

Last week I complained about how overheated I felt after my weekly run at Fleet Feet. While the temps weren’t as high as what I ran in during July and August, they were still over 100 that day. But there was something else going on with the weather last week. I don’t know if was slightly more humid than we’re used to here or what was going on, but all I know is I felt crappy and had a hard time cooling myself off. Thus the complaining post.

But last night I ran at Fleet Feet and it felt so much better. Several people were commenting throughout the day yesterday about how nice it was to experience some Fall-like weather, and I admit I really enjoyed the cooler temps.

The run at Fleet Feet felt good and upon conclusion I was sweaty, but not in a “Holy cow, what happened to you?!” way. Just a glow that seemed to indicate I was working out.

I drove home and decided I wanted to get in a little more running, because it felt so nice outside. So I took off from my house and ran another few miles. It just felt so comfortable outside and unfortunately the weather will heat back up to the 100′s this weekend.

But here’s the point where many of you will laugh at me… the weather that felt so glorious and was such a nice cool-off for me?

It was about 91 degrees!

OMG, I knew that was coming . . . and yet it still shocked me! I seriously don’t know how you do it! Glad to hear you got at least a tease of the “cooler” temps, though! Hopefully they’ll come back to visit soon! :)

I seriously cannot wait until October… it’s always such nice weather then! In fact, I’m looking forward to winter right now, but when it gets here I may regret that thinking!

Hey, I lived in Tempe, AZ, for two years, and I ran there in 105-degree heat and 90-degree heat and there is an enormous difference! The latter practically feels cool and refreshing compared to the former. :-)

I am in awe of you hot-weather runners. Whenever it’s over 80, I head for the ‘mill indoors… I know, what a wuss…

I’m in awe that you can tolerate the dreadmill… sometimes it would be convenient to use that, but I can’t bring myself to get on it anymore.

I totally know what you mean. And something else that is strange to me: 91 at 6 a.m. is way too hot to run (maybe because I know its going to get hotter), but 91 at 7 p.m. feels cool. Its psychological I know but it really does feel different!

I agree 100%… if the AM temp is hot it just brings about feelings of doom for the rest of the day’s heat!

Wow. 91. in September? Would it make you laugh to know it’s supposed to be in the 40s here overnight tonight? I don’t think we had one day this summer that made it into the 90s, that is how weird our weather has become lately.

Glad you had one of those days where you felt like you could keep running!

Yep… 91 in September. And that was cool… Today we were back up to 103. Bah!
