I stayed at the Bryce Pioneer Village hotel. (http://www.bpvillage.com/) It was a super-short walk from the hotel to the start line bus stop early in the morning. The Bryce Canyon race would be a great one for your family to cheer for you too, because it's small enough that the odds are pretty good that they'll see you during the race, you won't be lost in massive crowds. However, they'd probably have to decide if they're going to watch for you in the middle of the race or wait at the end of the race because the main road is closed for the runners, so they wouldn't be able to travel around during the race. I wish you luck on the race... this is definitely on my to-do-again list!

Thanks for the great race report. I was on the edge about signing up for this one as it will be my first distance run ever, I have only done 5k but I am determined. I figured if I signed up than I will have a real goal and your great report made me sign up. So now I am just wondering where you stayed. I want somewhere that I can take a bus from my hotel because my husband and 3 small children will be there to cheer me on but I don't want to make them get up that early. Thanks.

If I do say so myself, I think this is one of your best race reports, awesome job there lady! And your pace for those first 7 miles, holy crap! I guess you'll leave me in the dust if we meet in February?! LOL

I wish I could run a race with such breathtaking scenery as you must have had. I can imagine it is quite inspiring. The closest I've come is running along the Atlantic Ocean, last fall, but the entire race wasn't along the Coast, just some segments of it.

Kudos to your mom, too, for doing so well. You must be rubbing off on her.

Thank you all for your messages! I love that a whole community of runners can share encouragement for one another online. It totally makes blogging even more worth it. And I appreciate you reading my long-winded race reports!
